The Outlaw Josey Whales (*** 1/2) DVD

I finally saw my father’s favorite film. I enjoyed it a lot. Clint is the man. I love Unforgivien and the dollars trilogy; this is up there with those for sure. I am going to watch Pale Rider and High planes Drifter this week I think, and then some Dirty Harry movies. I haven't seen any of the Harry movies so I can't wait to see them. There is a lot to like about the picture. The gunfights and the spitting I enjoyed the most.

Ghost Rider (*) Blu-Ray

What a piece of shit it took me three days to watch it. Fucking horrible. I am so glad I Net Flix this crap and didn't buy it. The video quality and special feature seem to be ok on the Blu-ray , but i will never watch them. So skip this film at all costs

Live Free or Die Hard (***) In Theatres

Really not that bad. I really thought a PG-13 Die Hard would be super bad. It could have been a straight to DVD title without Bruce Wills. With wills and the cool stunts the film actually was enjoyable to watch. I think if a R rated cut came out on Blu-ray-dvd i would be interested to see if the cus a little more or have some super fun bloody shots. Will have to wait and see. Best sequel of the summer so far and it really should be but oh well.

Dark City (****) DVD

Every few years I watch this gem. I decided to watch it again with the awesome commentary by Mr. Ebert. It is one of the best Commentary track on a DVD. This movie is excellent. It really makes the Matrix look like crap. If you haven't heard the track before buy the DVD ASAP. Also Ebert's tracks on
Casablanca and Citizen Kane are also worth the listen.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly (*** 1/2) DVD

I watched the film in original Italian. I like For a
Few Dollars More the best out of the three films. I think there is a bad pacing problem in the middle of the film with the Civil War stuff, but overall awesome western.

Singing in the Rain (***) DVD

I finally finished this film. I started it about a year ago and never finished it. I started from the beginning and turned out to be very enjoyable. I don't think it is one par with some of my favorite musicals like Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Hedwig etc.. But overall I enjoyed it. Of course the Clockwork Orange infuses I enjoy the most about it.

It's a Boy Girl Thing (** 1/2) DVD

Was an ok freaky Friday -visa Vera film. I still like Hot Chick better.

Rio Bravo (****) Blu-Ray

I watched this morning and it was quite good. John Wayne was really great as usual. The only negative thing I see in the movie was Stumpy who was a little corny. If you like westerns and have not seen this go buy it ASAP.

The Third Man (*** 1/2) DVD

Awesome Criterion DVD. Movie was a little boring, but got better as it moved into the third act. Great music, B&W, and ending, which was really an awesome sight to see. Highly Recommended to anyone who likes film noir or Orson Wells.

Really god doc. One of M. Moore's best.

A copy cat of movies like Spellbound but worth the watch.

For a Few Dollars More (****) DVD

I saw Good the bad and the Ugly a few years ago and loved it. The remastered dvd's of the other two films came out last week and i'm glad i waited to watch them. The picture on this one was great. The music I like a little more than the Good soundtrack. There are some great moments in this film Kinski is wonderful, but i only wish i could hear his original Italian. After another viewing of this film might make it my favorite of the dollars trilogy.

Fistful of Dollars (*** 1/2) DVD

Clint is awesome as usual.

Sunshine (***) DVD

Danny Boyle's Event Horizen-ish film. The film is not out yet and to my knowledge doesn't have a release date here in the states. I can see why they are holding it back 3rd act is a tad to lame, but the film's first half is worth the wait. Danny adds another positve film to his work. Also Cillian Murphy is also developing into a fine actor. Check it out.

Knocked Up (***) Telesync

Not as good as 40 year old Virgin. The two leads were not as strong as Steve Carell and Keener. Some funny parts , but none very memorable.

Thursday, June 7, 2007

Gothika (** 1/2) DVD

I don't know why people are so hard on this film it really isn't that bad. The director Mathieu Kassovitz weakest film, but still entertaining and freaky enough to be ok.

Hostel Part 2 (*** 1/2) DVD

I really liked the first movie and this one tops the original. One of the best films this year. Go see it. Even if you didn't like Part 1 this one i'm sure you will like. Good blood etc.

True Grit (*** 1/4) DVD

John Wayne's award winning performance. Good film could have been great. The girl kind of ruins it for me.

La Haine (*** 1/2) DVD

Awesome French film by Actor Director Mathieu Kassovitz (Amiele,
Munich Crimson Rivers, Gothikia. Criterion another perfect special edition. I highly recommend the film.
