I now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (* 1/2) HD-DVD

I caved in and finally got a HD-DVD player. Unfortnetly this was the first full length movie i watched on my new system. The video quality was pretty good, but i had some problems with audio syncing and buzzing. I updated the firmware which took a while, but it fixed the problem nd everything worked great. The movie was pretty bad. I excepted a gayier movie , but Adam Sandler and Kevin James chose to keep the material relevantly tame. I would not recommend this movie to anyone, but if there is one thing it has is a nice scene with Jessica beil in her underpants.

Hairspray (***) Blu-Ray

I watched this again in Blu- ray and enjoyed the film once again. I still do not like John Trovolta.

Aliens VS Predator Requiem (* 1/2) In Theatres

There's actually a pizza sub plot... Really a poorly made film. Makes the first AVP look so much better now. Other than that at least it was rated R and Seeing another Predator film made makes me happy.

Blade Runner Final Cut (****) Blu-Ray

I really enjoyed watching this film. I haven't seen it in 10 years or so so it was fresh to me. I cannot wait to explore the 10 hours of features on the 5 discs.

The Shining (****) Blu-Ray

Just got the Blu-ray of the film and it's amazing. One of my favorite films. If you haven't seen it check it out. As for the people that state the book is better and the film isn't the book. I don't care this is one of Kubrick's masterpieces.

No Country for Old Men (****) In Theatres

The Coen bros are such interesting directors. They have made many neo noir movies and most of the their movies are throwbacks to the classic hollywood genres. This is there western film and boy did they nail it out of the park. I love the different guns in the film that are western staples. I really enjoyed how Sugar treated his wound and how the bounty hunters act throughout the film. This is my favorite movie of the year and maybe my favorite Coen Bros film.

Full Metal Jacket (****) Blu-Ray

Got two of the five Kubrick movies on Blu ray.(The other three are on fucking backorder...cock sucking Warner Bros) Awesome disc with a pretty cool doc and commentary on it. I watched the movie yesterday and i really feel this movie grows on you every time you watch it. Especially the ending. I love the Mickey Mouse song ending. The Blu ray transfer is good not great, but for an old movie it is a perfect upgrade to the DVD. If you have not seen this film watch it immediately. If you haven't leave me a comment I will burn you a copy.

28 Weeks Later (***) Blu-Ray

Wow!!! Not a bad sequel to a forgettable movie 28 days later. Maybe I need to watch the first one again, but I much prefer this film over the original. I like the gore and the acting was pretty cool. There are some nice visual elements and zombieness. Go see it Hopefully there is a third I would like to see how they would complete the trilogy.

Blood Diamond (*** 1/2) HD-TV

I started this movie when it first came out, but never saw the last 45 mins or so. I really like the style of this movie. It is a action movie at the core I think, but it has a nice political/heart to the story. I really like Leo performance and to me more deserving nomination than departed.

The Bench Warmers (* 1/2) Blu-Ray

The half star is for the star wars merchandise. Other than that horrible, a total mess.

Days of Heaven (*** 1/2) DVD

I just got the great Criterion DVD. This was the only Terrance Malick film that i had not seen. I'm glad I waited for this DVD. The visuals were excellent and this was a perfect movie to watch on a rainy Friday Morning. Check it out the movies worth your viewing time and 35 dollars.

American Gangster (***) DVD

Ridley Scott is an interesting director and this is an interesting movie. It is such a mixture of many gangster films. Ridley has done so many different genres and this really does not feel like he made this. Which i think is a good thing. I wish this three hour movie was longer and you will probably feel the same way after viewing this. I do not want to comment on specifics of this film. I will say that is really is not the first picture of the year according to neither early reviews nor the black Scarface. It is more like a mixture of Zodiac and Serpico. Denzel is really pretty good in this film, but nothing extraordinary. I love the scene with the sugar. Crowe is also pretty good as well. I'm sure this movie is better than We own the Night and in some ways i liked it more than the Departed. When you guys see it let me know what yo

My Date With Drew (**) TV

I woke up early this morning and stumbled on the documentary. I kind of wanted to see it. Blockbuster always has a copy for like $2, but I never bought it. I thought the movie was cute, but seemed childish and very amateur. I couldn't make anything better, but i can't get Super Size me out of head when i watched it. If Super Size didn't exist it think I would apperate the style a little more. There were some cute ideas like faking a press pass or buy and camera and returning it 30 days later. Brian seems like the dorky film geek kid i don't want to work in
Hollywood. Sure i love Spielberg and such, but he was seemed to stereotypical, maybe for the movie I’m not sure. Overall for $2 or a early morning movie it was ok entertainment.

Twilight Zone: The Movie (*** 1/2) Blu-Ray

Finally available on Dvd/Blu Ray. It is actually in short supply on Blu Ray. I luckily found it. It looks great and it was a blast watching this film for the 100 time. I now have all of Spielberg’s movies on dvd/bluray.... yeah..... I love Joe Dante's segment it's my favorite followed by the last one. The monsters are awesome. Also, I forgot the credence’s
Midnight special song book ending the film. I'm still humming it. The Blu ray looks great not a five star video transfer but pretty well preserved for a catalog title. Warner bros is great about putting out good special edition, but this not the case. The only supplement was just a really crappy trailer transfer. So if you want to see something really scary.... check this out....Finally

3:10 To Yuma (****) R5

Excellent film. I absolutely love the ending of this film. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale are again terrific as usual. Russell has elements of his character from Quick and the Dead which I thought was interesting. If I would complain about this film in any way was the first act was a little strange in pacing and development. It took a little bit to understand how the film was going to play out. Go see this or download this film immediately of the year’s bests. Also the blood and violence was also terrific.

Wyatt Earp (***) Blu-Ray

I think i like this movie more than
Tombstone, but i would rather watch Tombstone again because it is much shorter. Many people dislike this film given the fact that is came out 6 months after Tombstone. I think thy both work well together. Dennis Quaid's and Val Kilmers Doc Holiday’s are both unique and both actors are playing one of the best roles. Kevin Costner is ok as Wyatt. I prefer Henry Fonda and Kurt over his performance. Overall a good film that maybe could be trim just a bit to make it better.

The Kid Stays in the Picture (****) In School

One of my favorite Documentaries. Robert Evans you are the man! If you haven't seen go buy it it's well worth it. I have noticed every blockbusters has a least one copy for sale for less than $10 bucks so there are no accuses

West Side Story (****) In School

I love this film too bad I've seen it a few hundred times. We watched in my RTF Research and Criticism class and boy i wasn't in the mood. It still rocks. My favorite song is "Maria" followed by "tonight reprise" then "keep it cool."

My Darling Clementine (*** 1/2) In School

I never knew this film was about Wyatt Earp. Well it is not as good as
Tombstone, but it really is a great John Ford film. The Sky and the landscape are simply amazing. Henry Fonda is a good Earp and also "Stumpy" as a bad guy is pretty cool. I'm glad we watched this film today because Wyatt Earp comes out on Blu- ray tomorrow I never saw it so I can’t wait to compare them.

Deliverence (****) Blu-Ray

One of my favorite movies. I haven’t seen it in years. I never bought the DVD so i was really looking forward to the new 35 anniversary Blu-ray. It looked great and has a great 4 part documentary on it. I highly recommend this disc. Also if you haven’t seen the movie before check it out.

Halloween 2007 (*** 1/2) DVD

I really enjoyed the movie. Rob Zombie is turning into a fine director. After Devil's Rejects and this film i would say he is no longer a joke. The work print version is drastically different than the theatrical edition. So download it now and check out how the studio can mess up a pretty fine film.

Out for Justice (* 1/2) Blu Ray

I never saw this Segal film until last night. Wow. It was pretty violent and according to IMDB they say fuck 140+ times. Other than the poor acting I loved William Forsythe over the top performance.

The Simpsons Movie (*** 1/2) In Theatres

What can i say about a show that I've seen all 400 episodes at least twice and now a movie finally appears this year. The movie was meant for the fans that ditched the show years ago(those fucking idiots the show has never been better in my option). The movie, went back to the roots of the early Simpson days. Like season 2-6. I'm glad they writers did this. They made a movie that can stand the test of time, and not feel old after a decade or two. The
South Park movie may be funnier, but this film had heart and a sense of a familiarity that I love in the show. My only compliant is I wish there were more pop culture type references and it be longer . But I'm somewhat glad they steered away from them. (I don't want Family Guy approach) I really think this movie is perfect and was really happy after watching it that it did not disappoint. This will end up being my favorite film of the year, I believe.
Can you imagine the numbers that this movie will make this weekend, and all of the fans that ditched the show over the years come crawling back to it next season! This show may last another 10 years if they do. This is what i wish for. 400 is a lot of time spend with the Simpsons, but my hope it still stays sharp for many years to come and reach 500 or even 730 episodes so we can have at least two years worth or Simpsons to watch. So go see it Many Many Many times. Bart's Penis.... The theory still stands!

Rescue Dawn (*** 1/2) In Theatres

Werner Herzog's Remake of his own Documentary Little Dieter Needs to Fly.
Christian Bale(who is one of my favorite actors) was really effective in the role, but i enjoyed Jeremy Davis performance the most. The film has many great moments, i liked the dog, but if your looking for the better of the two films the doc blows it away. The last ten mins of the movie i hated, and the fact that the real life Dieter has a German accent and Bale didn't was a little disappointing.. I watched almost all of Herzog movies all 55 of them last year and this one is nowhere near his greatest work(some of my personal favorite Aguiree the Wrath of God, My Best Fiend, and Strosek), but it still brilliant and I'm glad he did the feature film and didn't get killed by another director. Go see this movie. Let me know what you think. And if you have seen
Andersonville my favorite war Prison movie let me know what you think of that also.

Disturbia (** 1/4) Telesync

I enjoyed this film, but it seems like every teen horror film that comes out. Not to mention the whole Rear Window, simpsons episodeness of the film. Shia is good again, and I thought the first hour of him doing nothing around the house was pretty amusing. The movie felt apart during the end sequence, but it had is moments. I liked the creepy pit in the basement. Overall worth watching for the cheap thrill and the sexy next door neighbor.

Spielberg on Spielberg (*** 1/2) TV

TMC had a Documentary on Spielberg the other night directed written and produced by Richard Schiekel. It featured just Spielberg talking about his films with film clips etc.. No narration and on other outside interview etc. I highly recommend this doc to any Spielberg fan. Spielberg answered many question and themes shown throughout his films. My favorite scene was him telling the audience how the ending of A.I. was Kubrick and not his, and he gets alot a heat from it. Spielberg is one of the greatest filmmaker alive and my personal favorite. I only wish during the Documentary that he apologized for Lost World.
Bring on Indy.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (*** 1/4) In Theatres

I really enjoyed this dark chapter in Harry life. The style felt fresh along with the music and characters but not enough to make it feel too different. The cast is huge in this film, and they all get some decent screen time. Gary Oldman is the man, and one of my favorite actors so that is added plus. There is plenty of really fun moments and cool montages throughout the film. I especially like the one with Azkaban prison. The dark feel of the first 30 mins was really creepy and nice to see they didn't ruin it with some kiddy lines and slap stick. There was only one bad line in the film. The line that was "you gotta hand it to Dumbeldore he goes out in style" was pretty poor. I Also enjoyed, Harry teaching defense sequences. The battle at the end was I can't wait to watch in IMAX 3D. I love the sugar coated ending, when we the audience's know there is more battles to be fought. Overall this is my second favorite Potter. Number three is my favorite. This is easily one of the best movies of the summer. I can't wait until next fall when Half Blood Prince comes out and not upset that David Yates is directing it. What did you think?

Arthur and the Invisibles (** 1/2) DVD

I watched another fine cartoon today from Luc Besson. It was a mixture of many stories Sword in the Stone, Honey i Shrunk the Kids, etc.. But overall Ii’s a worthy fantasy film. Worth the watch. I wish the DVD had the Original French track.

Flushed Away (***) DVD

I really enjoyed this movie. The voice acting was great and there were many clever gags. The singing slugs were great. Overall a great Aardman cartoon.

Music and Lyrics (** 1/2) Blu-Ray

I actually enjoyed this movie. The music is pretty amusing and the Pop Music Video is really good. Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant usually do nothing for me ,but there perfect for these type of roles. Much better than recent romantic comedies I have seen this year.

If.. (****) DVD

I've been wanting to watch this film for the last 10 years, Sadly it has not been available until two weeks ago when it arrived on a glorious Criterion two disc DVD. Malcolm McDowell pre Clockwork Orange (Which of course is my favorite movie) is brilliant. The transfer on this almost 40 year old film is one of the best i have ever seen. The movies themes are very interesting to watch based on the numerous school shooting that have occurred over the last few years. This movie deals with motif a little better than Gus Van Sant's Elephant, even though the movie are very different i can not help see the similarities in the two films. Do yourself a favor and check out Malcolm in this film. This film, Clockwork, and Caligula are classic McDowell in great form as usual. Next up for me is maybe try to finally watch Time after Time another film that has been on my list for some time. Let's hope Criterion puts out the two sequels O Lucky Man! and Britannia Hospital so i don't have to wait another 10 years to finish the trilogy.

Transformers (**) In Theatres

** Story ...The script was so bad.
**** effects but without a good story this movie is an average ** The movie is a tough one to shallow but maybe after another home viewing it may grow on me. Who knows?
I liked the first 30 mins and the last 30 mins. Shia was good and he will make a good Indiana Jones character i think other than that i really didn't care much about this film. There was a few wow shots, but nothing groundbreaking.
The B story was horrible with Anthony Anderson it was so pointless. Frenzy was stupid.
There is a fucking Mountain Dew Transformer.....
The transformers pee.. I just don't get it.
Why did hugo weaving due the voice of Meagtron they just added effects to it? Seems pointless not to use Frank Welker.
I can't wait for Transformers 2 maybe without the character development and such it will have a better story. Get rid of the humans and focus on the robots.

Ratatouille (*** 1/2) At the Drive In

I still think Monsters Inc. is Pixar's Masterpiece. I sure people will argue with that, but this movie is very well done. It seems like it needs a second viewing to sink in all the cartoon details and story elements. It's really an adult film. Like Iron Giant and Incredibles. Brad Bird really seems like he does what he wants and doesn't throwing any unnecessary kiddy elements. This is one of pixar's finest and a vast improvement over Cars which was pretty weak. Go see it right away you will not be disappointed.

Nancy Drew (** 1/2) At The Drive in

I fell asleep during the middle of the movie so I can not judge it completely. I enjoyed the film for what i remember. The movie mystery was fun, but overall maybe not as intense as thrillers that I’m used to.

License To Wed (*) In Theatres

Scary.. The babies..... Reminds me of RoboCop. Avoid this film. God it hurts to watch.
